Music Works! Music researchers tell us that music enhances our children's lives in many musical and non-musical ways. Since 1998, we have been seeing those benefits first hand. The benefits of music are directly proportionate to the amount of time spent doing musical activities and listening classical music. We have decided to create our own tracking system. We are giving the parents the materials needed to track the amount of time spend doing musical activities each day, week and month. Click on the icon at the left to see the awesome profiles from our 2004 graduating class. These nine children all had straight "A's", all are the highest scores in math, science and reading. They are all participating and being honored in many musical and non-musical ways. These children were honored at our Christmas 2004 event held at Trinity United Methodist Church. More to come...as our students return their tracking system paperwork.
Your encouragement may change their child’s life! We will place these exciting reports on our website and newsletters to encourage others; and we will email them to those families who have given us addresses. (We omit your name and that of your child, to save embarrassment.) Music Works! Blessings! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Spring 2004 (name withheld)
A note from a Huntsville mom. Her son is 4 1/2 years old and is completing Level One Kids 'n Keys. She writes... "We sure do love music class! I can't even imagine not having that in our lives.
Thanks for the great job you do! I've been meaning to tell you that
____ is currently reading at around a second or third grade level. I
have no doubt at all that his participation in music class and the music he's
been exposed to in our home has played a part in that. Pretty neat!
Thanks...

This past weekend, Ben received two Superior ratings in a vocal competition in Huntsville this weekend. His voice teacher (of 5 weeks) selected him to represent her in state competition. Good Work Ben! ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Spring 2004 Carley Beth Goode- Age 7. Carley Beth was a awarded a blue ribbon for winning First Place for her composition she wrote for local school competition. Congratulations Carly Beth! ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ (My son) is a testimony to the greatness of you and your program. He is reading above his age level as well. We are not testing him yet, but he has many more sight words than a typical KG student. Last night was such a blessing to me in class. I was shocked and thrilled that he followed the lead of the group so well speaking into the microphone. He is struggling in school (we think he has been overwhelmed by the volume and full day)...but music class has given him a chance to be in a group and be successful. Thank you again and again for allowing my special needs child to find a place of love and acceptance. Music Works! ...A Huntsville Parent November 2003 This week, a mom stopped by my office to report… Her daughter has been in our Early Childhood Music since 19 months old. She is now in Kids ‘n Keys and is currently in 1st grade. Her school teacher was amazed to report that reading tests show that she is reading at 4th grade level! She has an older sister who is not in music, is reading at the normal range for her age, and gets straight A’s. When the older sister needs to sound out a difficult word, she asks the younger sister. The mom is assured that this is a result of MUSIC. So are we. Music Works! ...a Muscle Shoals Mom __________________________________________________________________________________________________
